A Day in Dublin.....

Today was all about hanging out with Kristen and exploring a bit of what Dublin had to offer. The only set thing on our agenda for the day was to go to the Dublin Zoo. Beyond that, we would have to see as the day unfolded. After yet another wonderful breakfast here at The Shelbourne we were off to tackle that Dublin traffic I have come to adore so.

We made it to the zoo uneventfully with some good weather to boot, albeit a little cooler than expected. Nonetheless, we were ready to see what the zoo had in store for us. Our first stop was to see the monkeys. The first batch were quite entertaining. While most were running around chasing one another, there were others doing things I shall not speak of in this public forum. Let's just say there were some exhibitionists about!

Next up were Kristen's favorites, the Penguins. These guys were pretty lively today and we enjoyed watching them for a while before chasing down the elusive Red Panda.

We then made our way over to the African plains to see God's sense of humor. As strange as these creatures may look, it's so cool to see the purpose behind their unique characteristics.

"My tongue is so long I can clean my own ears!"

"My stripes are to help camouflage me from predators as the heat radiates off the Serengeti plain"

"Im just beautiful!"

"My trunk helps me eat, drink, play tag and keep up with the herd when we travel"
No trip to the zoo would be complete without seeing the big boys. Here is the last zoo pic of the day. This beautiful Tiger was sitting up on his roost watching over us all. Such a beautiful animal and a great way to end our day at the Dublin Zoo.

"I see you!
After a wonderful morning. we headed out in search of some good seafood for lunch. On the recommendations of several gents I have met this week, we headed out to the fishing village of Howth. We were headed to "Aqua" but unbeknownst to us, it wasn't open for lunch. No bother, as there were plenty of other choices right there on the pier. Boats on one side, fresh seafood on the other. Perfect! We landed on a place called "The Oar House" which was right next door to "Octopussy's Seafood Tapas" seen below. The food here was delicious and after that bowl of seafood chowder, we sadly only made it half way through our equally delicious meal. We'll be back.

We enjoyed the rest of our lazy day hanging out back at the hotel before yet another delightful dinner at Il Posto. It didn't disappoint! Thank you Dublin for a wonderful couple of days. Time well spent. Tomorrow, we are back to Turnberry and Scotland for the remainder of our trip. That is all!
